1800 RESPECT

At 1800RESPECT, we understand that everyone's experience of domestic, family or sexual violence is different. So too is the kind of help and support each person needs. No one knows your situation better than you and the information on these pages aims to support you, wherever you are at.

SEXUAL ASSULT REPORTING

If you are 16 years or older and do not want to speak directly with a police officer, but you want the police to know you have been sexually assaulted you can complete the online Sexual Assault Reporting Option (SARO) through the community portal. Information received via the SARO is treated with the utmost confidentiality and recorded on a secure and restricted NSW Police Force database.

LEGAL AID NSW

The Domestic Violence Unit (DVU) is a statewide specialist team of lawyers, domestic violence case workers, mental health workers and financial counsellors who work together to help clients who have experienced domestic and family violence with their legal and other needs.

The DVU can help clients better understand their legal problems and the choices they have.

There is no cost involved with seeing one of our lawyers, case workers, mental health workers or financial counsellors. We are separate from other Legal Aid NSW lawyers. This means we can provide assistance even if clients are in dispute with someone who is receiving help from another Legal Aid office.

WOMEN’S LEGAL SERIVCE

The Domestic Violence Legal Service is a specialist legal service for women experiencing domestic and family violence in New South Wales. Its main objective is to inform women who have experienced violence about their legal rights and to help women obtain access to justice.
